Mourning

Waking
I am overcome by sadness,
by waves of grief.

I search
the corners of my mind.

Finding no cause
I mourn.

Where has my unawareness gone?
That peace in which
no melancholy could intrude
is now beyond my reach.

And I must struggle
to the sun again
against my heavy heart.
