A Birthday Poem

Ah love, how we have woven in
the threads of our so varied paths
your clever hands building to fit my needs
my voice with your violin until both faded out

our piles of books, seldom overlapping,
passionate and persistent in our searches,
the music of all kinds surrounding us

and now, slowed down, no less absorbed
and fascinated by it all,
we help each other through the days,
and like spoons curl together
through the nights.
