The musette circles and dances in the air
plucked notes sing to us
reach back to other ears
The dancers step in their roles
of shepherd and shepherdess
casting their shadows on the canvas tent
Floating music and movement
take us to that earlier world
where viols lived and sang
as for this week
they shall again
