Homage à Verlaine
Drops of rain, increasing and remote,
fall on the garden leaves
and on my mind.
I'd have them change
their solemn, mournful pace,
Become a torrent, raging,
All swept away.
Pushing back shadows
and my darker thoughts
into the night gone by,
into the sleepless night.
